Near the AIR station . We have it from Mr K S Yadurajan that Handihalla became Yadavagiri when a posh colony came up in the locality, and the earlier inhabitants, pigs, disappeared. (Any thoughts, Dr. Bhamy Shenoy, of Yadavagiri ?) In his newspaper column, Mr Yadurajan refers to a meeting with a Mysorean at the University of California, LA, who called himself ‘Sid’ Nanjundappa. Both of them started talking in Kannada when “I asked him what ‘Sid’ was doing in his name. He laughed and said, it stood for Shiddagatta (a place in Tumkur Dist.). It was a concession for his American friends and colleagues”.

Yadavagiri is still a handiholla. For that matter many parts of Mysore can compete for that title today. In the past pigs might have been concentrating only in Yadavagiri. But today thanks to uncolected garbage by the city, one will find pigs every where. Even on Manasagangothri campus one can see pigs. Thus Handi Holla which was exclusively associated with Yadavagiri could be extended to most parts of the city today thanks to the cooperation of MCC.
Handi Halla is a small stream of drainage water which flows between the erstwhile Ideal Jawa factory and New Sayyaji Rao Road near Hotel Highway circle and Puthlibai Park. The road by the side of Jawa, crosses the Arasikere and Bangalore Railway tracks (now through underbridges) and curves down towards Hotel Highway Circle. On the way there is a small bridge whcih crosses this Handi Halla.
