Showcasing Mysore in Washington

My friend Mr Vijendra Rao, who is always up to something, is now collecting material for a CD showcasing Mysore, that would have a segment devoted to write-ups by Mysoreans on R K Narayan. We have in town very many who knew him or know of those who knew RKN. Would be nice if they could articulate their anecdotal accounts on RKN’s life and  times in Mysore.

Mr. Rao says he plans to reach the CD to the Association of Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) that is scheduled to hold its conference in Washington DC (Sept.1-4). Kannada sangha enthusiasts from all parts of the US will converge on the Washington for the September meet, at which the Karnataka government will hopefully be represented by a minister. Mr Rao plans to present his CD  to the govenment, as part of its promotional material for AKKA conference.

Mr Rao would like to receive write-ups and rare photos on RKN that can be included in his CD. E-mail vijendra.rao@gmail.com , or snail mail to Mr Vijendra Rao, "Dharitri", A2/9, 7th cross, AIISH Layout, Bogadi II stage, Mysore 570 026.

It would help, if you do it before July 31

Thanks for that support, Mr.GVK. Even before I could see the announcement, I had received some useful material from the ever so resourceful Venkata Ranga.

Mysoorigas are welcome to contribute articles/suggestions/photographs on other subjects as well. Only, they have got to be quick.

If I may say an extra word, it is this: There is passion behind this move.
